    We have found the source of the issues which related to customers who use Shortest Distance checks that run via MapQuest API, not Google Maps. An issue with MapQuest authorization API caused requests to fail in a manner that was not anticipated. We are implementing changes that will, like other parts of our code, ensure that Google values are still obtained as a failsafe.

    This also explains why only select customers saw this issue, and why it only applied to certain Trip Types within the system. We are going to montior the issue and ensure there are no further issues with MapQuest API calls. We will soon implement the additional changes to ensure a failsafe should such an issue happen again.

    We are currently investigating very limited reports of partial Google Maps API issues, causing some geocoding distance matrix data not to be received from Google, namely mileage (distance) and travel time information. Geocoding for addresses appears to be working without issues for autocompleting address. It is possible Google is facing some partial issues returning this data. There was a noticeable outage resulting in only a few full error API calls around noon Pacific time today, which is when this issue was reported. According to all system reports with Google, that very brief outage is no longer the case.

    If you are experiencing issues, be sure to report it to our support team. We currently have an engineer actively investigating this further. If you are not affected, you can ignore this message.
